The World Peoples Assembly held a business meeting on preparations for the VI International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy” in October 2026. The event brought together heads of the Assembly’s representative offices, as well as leaders and co-organizers of the competition in previous years. They discussed the project’s development and identified priorities for improving its organization.

Svetlana Smirnova, Chairperson of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly, shared impressive statistics: the competition has brought together participants from 68 countries over five years and in 2026 participants from 31 countries were among the winners.

The main goal of the new season is to hold national stages in as many countries as possible. Partners from Europe, Asia and Africa have already confirmed their readiness to join. Six stages are planned on the African continent.

The meeting also included proposals to expand the competition’s thematic areas, deepen interaction among its participants and develop its educational program.

Following the meeting, experts will prepare proposals on the Competition Regulations, nominations and format of national stages. The World Peoples Assembly will take all initiatives into account and consider new ways to engage participants and laureates from previous years.

The launch of the VI International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy” will be announced on 11 November 2026 in Amman, Jordan, as part of the World Public Summit: The Arab World. The international final will traditionally form part of the Third World Public Assembly in Moscow in September 2027.
