Winners 2023: leaders of public diplomacy were chosen among participants from Mexico, Europe, Asia and the Middle East

Names of laureatesII International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy”announced in Moscow on the sidelines of the First Catherine Forum. The competition is a joint project of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "Eurasian Peoples' Assembly" and the All-Russian public organization "Assembly of the Peoples of Russia", implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.

Over the two years of operation, the competition has become a stable international platform for the support and development of public diplomacy. Its participants and winners were representatives of Mexico, Indonesia, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Tunisia, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Abkhazia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.

Final of the competition and work on the interaction model

In 2023, 146 representatives of the non-profit sector took part in the educational program of the competition, of which 30 reached the finals. 29 finalists took part in the final stage.

On December 12, the finalists worked to develop a new model of interaction within the framework of the World Social Summit, which is being prepared by the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly. Participants had to develop a cooperation algorithm, set priorities, propose specific work tools, draw up an action plan and defend their concepts. The work was carried out in groups, and the assessment took place according to ten criteria.

Throughout the day, the finalists were accompanied by experts and trainers:

  • Natalia Burlinova- founder of the Center for Creative Diplomacy, associate professor at the Financial University, Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, Russian State University for the Humanities, candidate of political sciences;

  • Alexander Volchkov— General Director of the Ratnik TV channel, producer;

  • Irina Galanova— creative director of MG NEOIGROTECH, member of the Coordination Council of the National Parents Association;

  • Natalia Zabolotskikh— Deputy Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, competition coordinator, political scientist;

  • Oksana Margiani— Head of the Information Support Department of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation;

  • Evgenia Mikhaleva- Director of the ANO "Resource Center in the Sphere of National Relations".

Based on the results of the work, two key value foundations of all presented concepts were noted - openness to the world and knowledge as the foundation for the development of international cooperation and Eurasian integration.

Ceremonial award ceremony

On December 13, the award ceremony for the winners became the final chord of the First Catherine Forum. Words of gratitude to the participants and partners of the competition were addressed by the head of the international organizing committee, the First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Interethnic Relations, Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of RussiaSvetlana Smirnova. She especially noted the contribution of Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Administration of the Perm Territory, the Presidential Grants Fund, the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan and other partners.

Parting words to the winners were also heard from representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, international and public organizations.

  • Patyanik Olesya Ivanovna, teacher of social sciences and humanities, chairman of the subject-cycle commission of social sciences and humanities GBPOU Polytechnic College named after. N.N. Godovikova (Russian Federation, Moscow);

A separate special prize from the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan was awarded to the work of competition participant from Egypt Abdelmalak Kiryakous - a project on the twinning of the cities of Volgograd and Port Said.

Concluding the ceremony, laureate of the 1st International CompetitionKhristina Romanenko (Luati)from Tunisia addressed the winners of 2023, emphasizing that participation in the competition can become a point of professional and life growth and open new roads in the field of international cooperation.
