Expanded meeting of the Supreme Advisory Council discussed Preparations for the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly
An expanded meeting of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly "Towards the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly" took place on May 29, 2026 in a hybrid (online/offline) format. More than 110 public figures from 24 countries took part in the large-scale event.
The meeting was particularly significant due to the participation of members of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly in 2017, who were at the origin of the Assembly. Members of the Supreme Advisory Council together with the heads of Assembly Representative Offices, representatives of international organizations, the scientific and expert community summed up the outcomes of the nine years of the Assembly's work and discussed the main areas of preparation for its 10th anniversary.
The meeting was opened by Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly, member of the State Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Doctor of Economics, Doctor of Political Sciences:
– Today we are not reporting, but summarizing the outcomes of nine years of work. A lot has been done. Over the years, the World Peoples Assembly has fully reached the global level, and we have a truly world-class work ahead of us.
Walid Hamid Shiltag (Iraq), Co-Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, member of the Assembly General Council, Ambassador of the League of Arab States in Moscow, noted that the current name of the organization fully reflects the scale of its activities:
– The level of the World Peoples Assembly is fully reflected in its current name. The organization has long gone beyond Eurasia and Africa, and the political situation in the world has not prevented this in any way. But there is still a lot of public and diplomatic work ahead.
Vladimir Zorin, Chairman of the Commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration, member of the Presidium of the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations, stressed the importance of further developing cooperation between the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the World Peoples Assembly:
– The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the World Peoples Assembly have long had a cooperation agreement, and we are very pleased with both the results of our joint work and the prospects available. We plan to involve representatives of civil society even more actively in the projects of the World Peoples Assembly.
Alexander Torshin, a member of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Rating Agency, also greeted the audience.
Svetlana Smirnova, Chairman of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly, spoke about the main events of the plan "Towards the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly":
– On May 27, 2027, the World Peoples Assembly will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Starting in June 2026, we will begin implementing a large-scale program "Towards the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly", which will include international forums, public and diplomatic initiatives, youth projects and humanitarian actions. Our key task is to strengthen cooperation with major international organizations and to hold the Second World Public Assembly and regional World Public Summits.
The meeting was attended by members of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples Assembly in 2017, members of the Supreme Advisory Council, Heads of Representative Offices of the Assembly and representatives of the international expert community.
Ioseph Diskin, a member of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples Assembly, supported the development strategy of the World Peoples Assembly and noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with BRICS as an association based on the principles of sovereign development.:
– This will be a real support for our government agencies from the civil society.
Alexandra Ochirova, Co–Chair of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, stressed the need to preserve the value foundations of the sovereign development of states and peoples:
- A country is the greatest resource of its people. Sovereignty is strategically necessary, and we must constantly work to preserve it.
Tokon Mamytov (Kyrgyzstan), a member of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples Assembly, founder of the World Peoples Assembly, noted the increasing role of public diplomacy in the context of global challenges:
– In these conditions, the formation of new humanitarian principles of interaction is especially important. Public diplomacy should help us with this.
Georgy Muradov, a member of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, drew attention to the need to consolidate the efforts of civil society to strengthen peace and international cooperation:
– The most pressing social problem now is the problem of peace.
Dalbir Singh, Member of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, President of the Foundation for Politics and Governance (India), emphasized the role of the Assembly as a platform for international intellectual and cultural dialogue:
– We are mobilizing the intellectual, scientific and cultural capacities of civil society for a more just world.
Igor Halevinsky, a member of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples Assembly, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Russian Diplomats, noted the importance of holding the Days of the World Peoples Assembly and regional World Public Summits in various countries:
– This contributes to the emergence of new bonds of friendship, respect and understanding between cultures.
Ruben Safrastyan (Armenia), a member of the International Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, suggested considering the creation of a Declaration of Peoples' Responsibility for a Shared Future and an international observatory of public diplomacy.
Sergey Kandybovich, a member of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, emphasized the increasing role of public diplomacy in modern international relations:
– Now the wind of change is blowing in our sails — the sails of people's diplomacy.
Nur Nada, Head of the Representative Office of the World Peoples Assembly in Egypt, noted the growing international interest in the organization's activities:
– The ideas of the World Peoples Assembly are resonating in all countries.
Valery Ruzin, Deputy Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly, President of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio, stressed the importance of preserving historical memory and protecting historical truth as the basis for international humanitarian cooperation:
– The values of sovereign development are impossible without constant work to protect and preserve historical truth.
Vicente Barrientos, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the BRICS Joint Business Cooperation Center, drew attention to the need for further development of the youth sector of the World Peoples' Assembly.
Svetlana Smirnova announced the holding of the Second World Public Assembly on September 18-19, 2026 in Moscow:
– The First World Public Assembly aroused great international interest and confirmed the relevance of such a format of public dialogue. That is why, starting in 2026, we have started holding regional World Public Summits, which allow us to consider the specifics of different regions of the world and form a common agenda for further discussion at the World Public Assembly.
Alena Dolgopolova, Official Secretary of the World Peoples Assembly spoke on the outcomes of the Indian Public Summit "New World: India in the architecture of a Shared Future", which was held in New Delhi in March 2026. According to her, the Indian Public Summit brought together more than 1,500 participants from 27 countries and has become an important platform for international social and humanitarian dialogue.
Nikita Anisimov, Adviser to the Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly, spoke about the preparations for the World Public Summit "New World: Latin America in Building a Shared Future", which will be held in June 2026 in Brazil.
Yanina Dubeykovskaya, Deputy Executive Director of the World Peoples' Assembly, informed about the preparations for the World Public Summit "Africa", which will take place on July 30, 2026 in Addis Ababa.
Summing up the meeting, Andrey Belyaninov noted the high level of involvement of the members of the Supreme Advisory Council in the implementation of the Assembly's projects and expressed confidence in the successful preparations for the upcoming anniversary of the organization.
Following the meeting, the decision to hold the Second World Public Assembly on September 18-19, 2026 in Moscow was supported. The participants also supported the theme of the event, "New World: Values that Unite" and recommended human dignity and worth, justice and trust, identity and diversity, peace through responsibility, as well as the future and cooperation as its value bases.
The members of the Supreme Advisory Council also noted the importance of holding regional World Public Summits – a logical and strategically significant continuation of the ideas of the 2025 World Public Assembly "New World of Conscious Unity."
Special attention was paid to the International Contest "Leader of Public Diplomacy". In 2026, it will be held for the fifth anniversary time. Over the years, representatives from 67 countries have become its participants. The members of the Supreme Advisory Council supported the further development of the Contest as one of the key international projects. In 2026, the event takes place in several stages — at the country, regional and international levels, which significantly expands the geography of participants and forms a global community.
The participants also supported the practice of summing up the results of the International Contest "Leader of Public Diplomacy" annually within the World Public Assembly and awarding the World Public Recognition Award "For Service to Humanity".
The meeting participants noted that in nine years the World Peoples Assembly has gone from a public initiative on a Eurasian scale to an authoritative international platform of public diplomacy, bringing together representatives of dozens of countries around the ideas of trust, cooperation and humanitarian partnership.
The program "Towards the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly" will start in June 2026. At the same time, 2027 has been declared the Year of the 10th anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly, and key international, humanitarian, youth and cultural events of the organization will be dedicated to the anniversary. The celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Assembly will continue throughout 2027.
The expanded meeting of the Supreme Advisory Council became an important stage in the preparations for the anniversary of the World Peoples Assembly, confirming the high level of international support for the organization, the relevance of its humanitarian initiatives and the willingness of partners to further develop public diplomacy in the name of peace, trust and cooperation between peoples.
