Khristina Romanenko (Luati): when public diplomacy begins with the women's community
The path to public diplomacy often begins with personal experience - with the need to find oneself in a new country, culture, language. ForKhristina Romanenko (Luati)such a space was women's solidarity, which over time grew into an international project that united Russian-speaking women living in Tunisia and became a noticeable phenomenon in the field of public diplomacy.
Khristina Romanenko is a laureate of the "Leaders of Public Diplomacy" competition, the creator and inspirer of theConference of Russian-speaking women living in Tunisia Tunisia, “Lady Elissa”—a project that has been strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties between Russia and the countries of North Africa for several years.
“Lady Elissa”: symbol, history and modernity
The name of the conference was not chosen by chance. The coast of modern Tunisia, according to ancient sources, became the refuge of the legendary Queen Elissa, the founder of Carthage around 814 BC. e. This image of a strong woman who managed to create a state and unite people became a symbol of the Lady Elissa project - a space for Russian-speaking women for whom Tunisia has become a second homeland.
The first conference took place on March 8, 2021 - on a symbolic date that marked the beginning of a new tradition. The goals of the project are to strengthen the positive image of Russian female entrepreneurs in Tunisian society, support compatriots and create an environment of mutual assistance, development and professional growth.
Success stories and live dialogue between cultures
The Lady Elissa conference is not just a series of events, but a live platform for dialogue. Here you can meet women of different ages and generations, who are united by the desire for self-realization. Participants share personal stories - about overcoming the language barrier, adapting to new traditions, professional development and finding their own path.
Over five yearsmore than 40 success storieswere presented at the conference. For the fifth year in a row, the event brings together compatriots, representatives of the diplomatic mission, cultural figures and women entrepreneurs of Tunisia. It is thanks to the atmosphere of friendship and mutual support that the project continues to develop and expand its geography of influence.
In 2022 the conference “Lady Elissa 2022” was awarded the title of 1st degree Laureate of the international competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy”, organized by the Assembly of Peoples of Russia. The final of the competition was held in December 2022 in Perm as part of the Perm Open Forum of Friendship of Peoples and the IX All-Russian Forum of National Unity.
From the conference to the international forum
The idea of “Lady Elissa” was further developed and formed the basis of the International Forum of Women Entrepreneurs of Russia and the Countries of Africa and the Middle East “We Are Together!”. The forum was organized in collaboration with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Russia (AZHP) and became one of the six winners of the “Trust and Unity” grant competitionimplemented by the Assembly of the Peoples of the World.
Thus, the local initiative has grown into a large-scale international project aimed at developing business, humanitarian and cultural ties between regions.
Other projects and media work
In addition to conference activities, Khristina Romanenko is the author of the idea and editor-in-chief of the monthly online periodical in Russian “Compatriot Bulletin”. What does it mean to be a leader
For Christina Romanenko leadership is, first of all, a human quality: “A leader is a friend, sister, mentor. A person with whom you feel comfortable, with whom you can trust, with whom you can openly share ideas and find support.”
A true leader, in her opinion, knows how to hear the team, respect different points of view, correctly distribute roles and take responsibility for decisions made. This is a person who remains calm in difficult situations, knows how to flexibly change strategy without losing the main goal, and serves as an example for others.
Directions for cooperation
In the future, Khristina Romanenko is interested in expanding cooperation in the following areas:
youth and children's projects aimed at preserving historical memory;
educational initiatives in the field of Russian as a foreign language (Russian as a language) foreign);
support for entrepreneurship of Russian-speaking women abroad;
legal assistance in the adaptation of compatriots.
