For Lyudmila Alekseevna Alexandrova, the Russian language is not just a means of communication, but a powerful tool for dialogue between cultures, mutual understanding and integration. It was this philosophy that formed the basis of the educational project “Think and Talk”, with which she became the winner of the “Leaders of Public Diplomacy” competition.

Project “Think and Talk”: goals and audience

The project “Think and Talk”has been implemented since 2018 to the present day in Russia. Its main goal is to promote the study of Russian as a foreign language, the development of speech culture and support for the sociocultural adaptation of foreign youth. Over the years, the project has grown into a large-scale educational ecosystem, focused both on foreign students and applicants, and on a wider audience of Russian language learners.

Educational content and methodological solutions

One of the key results of the project was the creation of 30 educational videos in 2D animation format. They provide a simultaneous visual and auditory impact, voiced by a professional speaker, equipped with subtitles and detailed scripts. Additionally, infographics, lexical and grammatical materials have been developed to allow the course to be used both in self-study and in an academic environment.

Transition from online format to live communication

The project has gone beyond online learning. On November 8, 2019, on the basis of Vladimir State University (VlSU), the interregional forum “Think and Talk” was held, bringing together representatives of universities, teachers and students from 42 countries and 12 regions of Russia and becoming a platform for discussing issues of popularization of the Russian language and adaptation of foreign students.

Face-to-face classes and cultural integration of students

In December 2019, The Department of “Russian as a Foreign Language” at VlSU held six face-to-face classes with foreign students. Working with video materials, scripts and a minimum vocabulary allowed more than 50 students to improve speaking skills and gain experience in live communication, contributing to their deeper cultural integration.

Public and professional recognition of the project

The high social significance of the initiative received external recognition: in 2023 and 2025, the “Think and Speak” project was awarded a III degree diploma from the regional stage of the International Prize #WE ARE TOGETHER.

International development: project “Integration 20.24”

Continuing to develop the direction of public diplomacy, Lyudmila Alexandrova launched the Russian-Uzbek projectIntegration 20.24in 2024. Its goal is to promote the Russian language in Uzbekistan among young people and form stable intercultural ties between young people of the two countries.

Scale of educational and communication activities

As part of the project, educational and video materials for 30 lessons were developed, online classes, master classes, project workshop meetings, conversation clubs and intellectual games were held. All events brought together more than 100 students from Russia and Uzbekistan.

Dialogue on the future of international education

A separate event was the foresight session at RUDN University, which brought together more than 120 participants. Discussions focused on the future of international education, an analysis of risks and opportunities, and proposals for increasing the number of international students in Russia in accordance with national development goals.

When talking about leadership, Lyudmila Alexandrova emphasizes the importance of strategic vision, responsibility, the ability to inspire and openness to change. This approach allows her to create sustainable educational and humanitarian projects that unite people of different cultures around the Russian language.

Today Lyudmila Alexandrova is interested in expanding cooperation in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language and is open to new partnerships and initiatives.
